Welcome
to the 583rd!!!
This
page
under construction...
In
the
future you will find references to what we might recall from our time
there... picture galleries (see
admin
notes, right column) are
available as well- as well as links to
other information about the 583rd, Münster, etc...
Please feel free to post to the message board(s), let us know if you
have pics we should post (I believe you can post your own in the
message boards as well), and at a minimum, please register on the
registration board so those that come in the future can perhaps find
you.
More is coming, but I need YOUR help! Send pics to
Admin@570thusaag.com, and I will put them in the gallery, or on this
page.
Any commo and MP insignias or data missing, let me know the command
unit (brigade/command HQ level), and I will look into getting that data
on here.

2. Register if you have not
3. Wait for email to activate registration
4. Click on link in email

The
following appeared in the final 59th Courier, the Brigade's
Newspaper... perhaps "inactivated" should have been "deactivated", but
it has been left as was printed.
583rd Ordnance
Company
The 583rd Ordnance Company was activated in May 1940 as Company
C, 100th Ordnance Battalion at Camp Sutton, NC. The unit departed the
United States in February 1944 and served in five European campaigns
during World War II. Company C was redesignated as the 583rd Ordnance
Ammunition Company in April 1950.
In January 1953, the company was redesignated as the 583rd
Ordnance Company and reorganized as an ammunition depot. The company
was inactivated in December 1954.
In January 1959, the 583rd was activated in Dahn, Germany and
assigned to the U.S. Army Communications Zone. It was later assigned to
the Advanced Weapons Support Command, headquartered in Pirmasens.
Effective Dec. 1, 1964, the 583rd Ordnance Company was assigned
to the Special Ammunition Support Command, and it was further assigned
to the 570th U.S. Army Artillery Group. The 583rd Ordnance Company was
inactivated in May 1991.
Temporary Administrative
Notes
(Note-
When you click on the gallery
link, you do NOT have to log in
to see pics... just click on album
list, and work from there. Other links will work for you as
well, just not the log in, unless you register. Otherwise, log in is
mainly for the Admin.)
Keep in mind, this is a big project, always in progress, so if
something does not work, or seems incomplete, there is probably a
reason other than your computer. Please come back and check from time
to time to see how things change, and what is added.
Initially, concerning this website and links within the site, you may
see a lot of redundancy perhaps, either with text or
layouts, when you look between sites/units (USAFADS). This is normal,
and this will change/improve over time.
An important note.
For these sites under the main site of 570th USAAG
to become complete, we need
YOUR help. Pictures, postings of information (either on message
boards or privately via email) are needed to make each Unit's site
under the 570th complete.
This
"Admin
side" of the site (this right column) will eventually be filled with
more textual data like
that on the left column...
