Welcome to the 570th HQ page!!!

This site under construction... some text is filler...

For many years, the 570th was host to field artillery specialists and their support. This included, like most detachments, standard projectile artillery, missile artillery, and commo.

Here you will find references to what we might recall from our time there... picture galleries (see admin notes, right column) are available as well- as well as links to other information about the 570th, Münster, etc...

Please feel free to post to the message board(s), let us know if you have pics we should post (I believe you can post your own in the message boards as well), and at a minimum, please register on the registration board so those that come in the future can perhaps find you.

More is coming, but I need YOUR help! Send pics to Admin@570thusaag.com, and I will put them in the gallery, or on this page.

Any commo and MP insignias or data missing, let me know the command unit (brigade/command HQ level), and I will look into getting that data on here.

How to post pictures-
1. Click Gallery
2. Register if you have not
3. Wait for email to activate registration
4. Click on link in email
5. Log in
6. Click "upload"
7. Upload your pics
8. The pics will NOT be immediately available- after approval from Admin, pics will be posted and available to view

The following appeared in the final 59th Courier, the Brigade's Newspaper... perhaps "inactivated" should have been "deactivated", but it has been left as was printed.

570th US Army Artillery Group

The 570th U.S. Army Artillery Group was organized in May 1922 as the 570th Field Artillery Battalion under the 218th Brigade in the Organized Reserves. In March 1944, the battalion was allocated to the Army of the United States, and activated in April 1944, at Fort Jackson, S.C.

The unit deployed to the Pacific Theater and participated in combat operations for which it earned the Asiatic-Pacific battle streamer.

In July 1947, the battalion was redesignated the 946th Field Artillery Battalion and allotted to the Organized Reserves.

In August 1955, following the Korean conflict, the 570th was redesignated the 570th Field Artillery Missile Battalion and activated as a Corporal Missile unit at Fort Bliss, Texas, in September 1955.

In February 1964, the battalion headquarters was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 570th U.S. Army Artillery Group, the rest of the battalion's subordinate units were disbanded, and the new group headquarters was activated at Fort Sill, Okla.

In July 1964, the group arrived in Germany and the headquarters was established in Muenster-Handorf.

The 570th was inactivated on 15 June 1992.

Temporary Administrative Notes
(Note-
When you click on the gallery link, you do NOT have to log in to see pics... just click on  album list, and work from there. Other links will work for you as well, just not the log in, unless you register. Otherwise, log in is mainly for the Admin.)

Keep in mind, this is a big project, always in progress, so if something does not work, or seems incomplete, there is probably a reason other than your computer. Please come back and check from time to time to see how things change, and what is added.

Initially, concerning this website and links within the site, you may see a lot of redundancy perhaps, either with text or layouts, when you look between sites/units (USAFADS). This is normal, and this will change/improve over time.

An important note. For these sites under the main site of 570th USAAG to become complete, we need YOUR help. Pictures, postings of information (either on message boards or privately via email) are needed to make each Unit's site under the 570th complete.

This "Admin side" of the site (this right column) will eventually be filled with more textual data like that on the left column...
