Welcome to the 26th!!!

For many years, the 26th was host to field artillery specialists and their support. This included, like most detachments, standard projectile artillery, missile artillery, and commo.

Here you will find references to what we might recall from our time there... picture galleries (see admin notes, right column) are available as well- as well as links to other information about the 26th, Paderborn, etc...

Please feel free to post to the message board(s), let us know if you have pics we should post (I believe you can post your own in the message boards as well), and at a minimum, please register on the registration board so those that come in the future can perhaps find you.

More is coming, but I need YOUR help! Send pics to Admin@570thusaag.com, and I will put them in the gallery, or on this page.

Any commo and MP insignias or data missing, let me know the command unit (brigade/command HQ level), and I will look into getting that data on here.

How to post pictures-
1. Click Gallery
2. Register if you have not
3. Wait for email to activate registration
4. Click on link in email
5. Log in
6. Click "upload"
7. Upload your pics
8. The pics will NOT be immediately available- after approval from Admin, pics will be posted and available to view

The following appeared in the final 59th Courier, the Brigade's Newspaper... perhaps "inactivated" should have been "deactivated", but it has been left as was printed.

26th U.S. Army Field Artillery Detachment

The 26th U.S. Army Field Artillery Detachment was constituted in the regular Army, February 1951, as the 26th Field Artillery Counter-mortar Radar Detachment. The unit activated at Fort Sill, Okla. in March 1951 and deployed to Korea, where it received the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. In October 1951, the unit deactivated in Korea.

The detachment was redesignated the 26th U.S. Army Artillery Detachment in May 1958, and activated a month later at Fort Sill, Okla. The detachment was assigned to Special Weapons Support Command in June 1960, and assigned to the 5th U.S. Army Artillery Group, located in Germany, in November 1963.

The 26th U.S. Army Missile Detachment inactivated in Germany, February 1967, only to be activated again in Germany in November 1976. In March 1988, the unit was reorganized and renamed the 26th U.S. Army Field Artillery Detachment.

During this reorganization the unit was assigned to the 570th USAAG and moved from Paderborn to Sennelager. The 26th inactivated in Sennelager in May 1992.

Temporary Administrative Notes

(Note-
When you click on the gallery link, you do NOT have to log in to see pics... just click on  album list, and work from there. Other links will work for you as well, just not the log in, unless you register. Otherwise, log in is mainly for the Admin.)

Keep in mind, this is a big project, always in progress, so if something does not work, or seems incomplete, there is probably a reason other than your computer. Please come back and check from time to time to see how things change, and what is added.

Initially, concerning this website and links within the site, you may see a lot of redundancy perhaps, either with text or layouts, when you look between sites/units (USAFADS). This is normal, and this will change/improve over time.

An important note. For these sites under the main site of 570th USAAG to become complete, we need YOUR help. Pictures, postings of information (either on message boards or privately via email) are needed to make each Unit's site under the 570th complete.

This "Admin side" of the site (this right column) will eventually be filled with more textual data like that on the left column...
